Meaningful change begins with awareness, and awareness requires information. Millions of people in our home regions and across the United States are aware that disasters are a problem, but they lack the data and insights to create a plan for themselves so that they may escape disaster. Understanding the problem and being prepared are two very different things. Most residents simply do not have access to the data, risk models and routing information that could help them make a plan and act on it when it matters most.
To meet this need, we are taking the next big step forward together. We have created a new Public Benefit Corporation called Ladris Ready which will provide free preparedness resources, data, notifications, and information to residents. This organization will distribute our risk data and models, plus verified alerts, notifications, evacuation routing data, and more, to the general public free of charge through our Sentinel app, available on iOS and Android. We are doing this because we believe that the public deserves to have this information, and we know that counties and cities want their residents to have this information. Ladris Ready helps make this possible, even when resources or tools fall short. We are glad we can support them in being transparent and in sharing this with residents, so that they may prepare themselves for disasters that we hope will never come to pass.
